Guide to fishing in San Diego, CA

come off those tours. There are several sports fishing companies, but I have heard nothing but rave reviews for these guys.

The fish you will catch depends on the time of year and the range of your trip. Most common are catches of sculpin, giant squid, various cod, bass, sharks, and tuna. To call these squid "giant" does not come close to explaining their size. They are truly amazing.

What I love about this H&M is that it is located next door to Point Loma Seafoods. This restaurant is not only the best seafood in Southern California, but they will fillet your catch for an affordable price. Filleting starts at $1.00 a pound moves to filleting a whole fish and smoking it for $1.50 a pound.

If you are worried about seasickness, the trips are worth any queasiness you may deal with. Some anglers swear by ginger tinctures while others simply take a dose of motion sickness medication. I have even heard some old time fisherman telling newbies to try the wristband that came out on the market for nauseated pregnant women. If you think this might be a problem for you, do a search on the internet for remedies and bring a few with you in case your choice does not work out.

You will need a California state fishing license if you are over 16-years-of-age. You will actually wear your permit on the outside of your clothing and make sure it is in view while fishing. A one day license will set you back about $13.00, while an annual license will run about $42.00. You can splurge on a plastic license holder for 50 cents. If you are going to be crossing into Mexican waters, then a Mexican Sports fishing permit is required starting at $15.00 for the day up to $62.25 for a 5 day permit.

San Diego boasts some of the most amazing sites and for anglers, it offers paradise. If the pier is calling to you or a day trip beckons, these two sites offer the most fun for your money. Take some time to kick back and enjoy fishing in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A giant squid just may find his way onto your line.
