There is a lot of controversy about homeschooling, however in the last twenty-five years more and more parents have opted to teach their children at home. There are times when this is done in a way that isn't a good thing. There is a lot of discipline and a lot of commitment involved in homeschooling your children. If you have what it takes, and you work hard to teach your children there are a lot of benefits to homeschooling.
Education
Educati on is what it is all about. Often times public school becomes about other things. Friends, girl friends or boyfriends, just making it through by the seat of your pants, and even napping (yep there was a kid in my junior high classes who slept through the five classes we had together. The bell would ring, he would pick up his books, and go on to the next class, where he would promptly fall asleep again. The only other thing he did while we were there was collect detentions!) With homeschooling you can make school time a time for education and only education. This lets you help your children pass his or her peers and move onto bigger and better things.
Tailored Teaching
Homeschooling lets you tailor your classes, learning styles, and subjects to meet your child's educational needs, desires, and skill levels. You can give them one on one time allowing them to learn better, more efficiently, and you can work at getting them excited about learning. You can help them expand their knowledge and the ways that they take that in. You can also let them take more subjects that they want to take giving them more excitement for learning.
If you child is above or below his normal class you can help them keep going and not get bored. Or you can help them catch up. You can give your student the attention that they need to be all that they can be.
Above and Beyond
Many homeschool families go above and beyond the teachings of the public school. You can go in depth on all subjects and you can cover a wider breadth of material. This is because of the tailored teaching as well as the fact that there are fewer distractions. You can teach your son or daughter to be completely prepared for college and even give them a huge head start.
More Constructive Time
For many families this is a huge issue. With homeschooling you can have a much more constructive use of time. Most homeschooling families spend three to four hours on lessons. That's it. Just a few hours a day and their students have learned as much or more then those in the public school system. This
