INCOME.
Finding additional sources of income may not be that daunting a task. There are many jobs that can be filled with little of no experience. Many positions are available immediately and you are paid in relatively short order. Here are some examples:
* Deliver flyers.
* Clean houses.
* Have a yard sale.
* Wait tables.
* Find a roommate or tenant.
Try some less traditional alternatives:
* Participate in surveys.
* Be a mystery shopper.
* Telemarketing.
* Establish a home-based business.
* Sell personal assets (artwork, jewelry) or household items online.
Don't let pride or ego get in the way from taking jobs you would normally not consider. Remember, your goal is to get out of debt fast.
You can also try to get a higher pay job as well as a regular part-time job.
4) CUT BACK ON EXPENSES.
This category offers the most opportunities to reduce debt. With some thoughtful planning, you can make dramatic cutbacks.
Regular trips to the hair salon, manicurist, and coffee shops are small expenses but they add up significantly over time. The simple solution is to do your own hair and nails, and make your own coffee. Brown bag your lunch instead of buying fast food.
Other Ways to Save Expenses:
* Limit trips to the ATM. Take a specific amount of money once a week. Multiple trips costs hundreds of dollars a year in service fees.
* Leave the car at home. Take public transportation and walk when you can.
* Buy generic products rather than name brands.
* Shop in bulk. Divide purchases and share costs with friends.
* Cancel magazine and newspaper subscriptions; read materials at the library.
* Don't splurge on extravagant gifts.
* Clip coupons.
* Unplug electrical appliances when not in use; use energy efficient light bulbs.
* Cancel gym membership if you're not using the gym.
* Shop at dollar stores. Buy greeting cards for $1.00 versus $5.00 at retail card shops.
Take advantage of free services in your community.
5) SIMPLIFY.
Simplifying your life is an easy way to cut your expenses.
Perhaps you've acquired many things that are simply for luxury or status - things that you just don't need. Do you watch all 300-cable channels? The basic channels can suffice until you're debt free.
Don't keep up with the Jones' by having all the cutting edge gadgets:
* Pagers
* Cell phones
* Blackberrys
* Mp3's
* Desktop computer
* Laptop
These items are a drain on the wallet. Service fees, payment plans, contracts, and hidden charges are expensive.
