Visiting San Diego, California, in the summer

In the summer the temperature in San Diego can vary by as much as 15 degrees Fahrenheit on any given day. The ocean blows cool breezes year-round, but you need to be near it or you must be staying in a property that's perched on top of a mountain in order to enjoy the ocean breeze.

People feel the heat and cold differently.

If you're coming from a cooler climate, such as England or the northern Oregon, then you will probably feel uncomfortably warm in a valley, that's no where near the ocean. However, if you're coming to visit San Diego from Las Vegas, then you may find the ocean breezes too cold, even in the summer.

San Diego itself is basically an enclosed desert with the ocean on one side and mountainous canyons surrounding the rest of it.

Over the past several decades, new housing and commercial developments have brought in lush green grass and exotic trees that have contributed largely to making it the gorgeous place it is for residents today.

If you keep in mind the type of weather you're comfortable living with, then you'll be able to choose the best place to stay in San Diego when you vacation here in the summer.

Here are a few tips to help you understand how and where to stay in order to have the most comfortable visit according to your personal preferences:

* San Diego County is a large, sprawling mass of inter-connected small communities that span several hundred miles in all directions.

*Along the Coastline (West San Diego County/Beach Communities)*

The temperature is at it coolest near the Ocean, because of the cool ocean breezes which blow year-round.

The further you travel away from the Ocean, the warmer you'll feel.

The beaches are busy most of the year, but especially in the summer. This is because children are on school holiday and the days are sunny and gorgeous. Local families, church groups and clubs often meet for cook-out's along the beaches and the bay.

If you're driving, then you need to plan to arrive early to ensure you find a parking spot.

*Inland (East San Diego/Mountains & Desert Communities)*

The weather is basically perfect in San Diego year-round, although it's warmer in the eastern part of San Diego County, especially in the Summer, and you'll notice it when you arrive back at your hotel or rented accommodation, after spending the day at the beach.

Most accommodations are going to be much more affordable in east county and there are fun things to do such as horseback riding (there are more rural areas in the east
