The search is on for the next American Idol and you ask what are they looking for?Believe it or not, they're looking for talent.Once they weed out all those who show up without talent but are always good for a laugh, it gets down to serious business looking for that next new star.The problem that most people have is after they picked the winner and they've made their debut disc, no one hears from them.Why?Hard work, or lack there of.

No one wants to work at it, it's a job just like if you were to get up every morning to go to the office and yet we watch as all the contestants rise every morning, even before the sun does during the competition all fired up and ready to go, but when the winner is chosen, they think that they will have an easy time and everything will come to them.Being a superstar takes dedication and hard work.The producers of American Idol are giving individuals the chance to prove that they have what it takes to make it in a business that at times can be unforgiving.Some have gone on to fame when not been in the top five and still are working hard at their craft.

Others have been trying to make it to the top before American Idol was just a thought and here is their chance to do something they thought would never happen.If you believe in yourself and have the motivation that it takes you will succeed.Take a look at Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, hard work and dedication have made them what they are today.If you want it, then go for it.American Idol is just a small stepping stone for those who know they have talent but do not know how to get their foot in the door, or have had doors slammed in their face.This program is a modern day version of the "Gong Show".

There are those who are trying to get a foot in the door to what has to be the hardest profession to be in.Talent is the number one thing needed before you can call yourself a star.Simon Cowell does not sit at at a desk for the good of his health and yet there are those who think they have a wonderful voice, while the rest of us, along with Simon must sit through someone's audition thinking this person's voice could peel the paint off the wall.No one likes to be criticized, but sometimes a dose of reality is great medicine.

The judges are looking for someone who with the first note can literally knock them off their feet, someone who can stop Simon, possibly leaving him speechless, except to say with a little work here and there will have everyone talking about him or her.Is there another Kelly Clarkson out there? Sure there is, however are they willing to make sacrifices to work hard.Up early every morning, they do it during the competition, so why not show America this was not a fluke.Is this what our society become, people who don't want to work hard, yet expects everyone to love them while they hold out their hand for the money?

Although we have not heard from some past winners, those who have won have gone on to work in other fields in the enterainment business, from singing on Broadway, to forming their own rock groups, to heading for their first love, country music.They say this is a hard business because there are so many out there trying to do what everyone else is trying to do.American Idol is trying to help that certain someone get their foot in the door and if they can take the advice that the judges give them could be the next idol.

Some may still say the show's good for a few laughs, but let's hope the next, great singer finds his or her way to the American Idol stage and let the fans vote.
