Experienced Traveler's Seek Unusual Activities in San Diego...

As an experienced traveler, you may be looking for something less 'obvious' than hanging out at the beach during your vacation in Southern California.

In fact, you may have various entertainment needs as you'll be traveling as a couple for part of your holiday, but may plan to meet up with friends and family at some point in your journey. Therefore, you will need information on fun and interesting things that are:

* ATHLETIC, CHILD-FRIENDLY (All or part of your holiday), NON-ATHLETIC*

NON-ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES/MODERATE EXERCISE:

VISIT A SPA - Pamper yourself at one of the several dozen spa's in San Diego. Many of the luxury hotels such as Hotel del Coronado and the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa offer fabulous spa treatments.

BALBOA PARK is where you'll find over a dozen significant museums. You'll be able to tour extensive botanical gardens. There are lovely water fountains, street entertainers and exhibits lining the concrete walkways. There is also a lovely theater that regularly produces live performances and quality dining facilities on the grounds. For more information on what the park has to offer: www.balboapark.org

ENJOY THE BIKING AND HIKING Trails scattered across the County. You can make a picnic day of your tour or take several days into the mountains, near the canyons or near one of several lakes in the area. Some of the lakes in San Diego are near residential areas, while others are in remote locations. It's all up to you to decide exactly what suits your needs best.

HISTORICAL TOWNS AND AREAS OF THE CITY may interest you. If you cruise around the gas-lamp district in downtown San Diego, make sure to visit Horton Plaza.

You'll find all sorts of trendy restaurants and shops in the area. Or, you can drive up Mount Laguna and visit the old gold-mining town of Julian and have a bracing walk around the mountain town. Old Town San Diego is also worth a look, with it's historically significant buildings, fabulous Mexican restaurants and festive atmosphere year-round.
