Avoiding "working from home" scams

Remember the three golden rules of working from home:

1. NEVER pay for the opportunity to apply for a job
2. DON'T be blinded by dollar signs (or pound signs, or whatever applies in your country)
3. ALWAYS be prepared for hard work

No job will pay you for doing nothing. Working from home shares many of the characteristics in terms of effort (perhaps even more so) as working for a company does.

It was always my ambition to be able to earn enough to work from home so I looked through my fair share of 'opportunities'. Throughout my search I had one basic rule - that I would never pay to apply for a job. Why should I? When you really think about it, it's crazy. And believe me, the legit companies wouldn't dream of making you pay.

I started looking for writing jobs online, and came across plenty of opportunities and wonderful sites that didn't demand a penny. I am now a full time writer and loving every minute of it. Some of the sites I get work from do offer a paid membership with more benefits, but you don't need to pay to get work from them.

I think the real danger with getting caught up in work from home scams is EMOTION. We get desperate to earn some money from home, so we are prepared to whip out our wallets or purses in order to pay what is 'necessary'. These companies will tell you that they only charge a fee to detract people who aren't serious about working for them.

Let me tell you this - they charge a fee to make money. Period. If the only reason they did it was to detract people who weren't serious, they'd give the money back as soon as you tried to pay them, wouldn't they?

Don't get caught out. Don't pay for anything. You are entitled to a job that doesn't require you to pay for it.

And the best home working jobs out there do NOT ask for your money.
