Best times of the year to advertise

Advertising during the holidays tend to attract the most views and increase sales. There are few major holidays every year Easter, Christmas, Summer holiday etc. Where a majority of the potential customers are off work or off school and are at home watching their favourite soap operas or latest TV series. This presents a perfect opportunity to try and advertise during those holiday times.

Best holiday to advertise
The best holiday would be Christmas. This is due to the fact that, not many people go away on holiday during the Christmas and tend to stay at home to celebrate with friends or families. Furthermore, this is a perfect opportunity as with a majority of potential customers staying at home, you are able to advertise your product on the TV/Radio/Leaflet etc. as people are expecting special offers and discounts. Also, during the Christmas holidays, potential customers will do allot of the "Christmas shopping" thus increasing the chance of them following your advertisements. It would be ideal to advertise in the form of TV programs or leaflets, as those are the two most common and well received forms for companies.

Disadvantages of advertising during the holidays
There disadvantages to advertising during the holidays, as you are competing with other rival businesses, it is therefore necessary to budget a percentage of your retained profits in investing for the holiday advertisements. It does not come cheap to advertise for a short duration on a channel, therefore, it is recommended that you try and buy an available slot and the duration of the advertisement before hand, probably a few months before the holidays start.

Cost-effective and planning
You must also think of the type of form that you will advertise your product. Are you advertising your product on the type of channel which relates to your product i.e. advertising a fashion on magazine on channel 4 is cost-effective as many teenagers and fashion people watch that channel. Also, remember to carefully design and plan your advert, the design aspects as well as the message you give to the customers. Try to do a socio-survey of a type to study the amount of people and what is their favourite channel. Furthermore, in relation to when you actually wish to advertise your product, it is best to also study the type of people that will use your product. For example, if you are making a fashion magazine, you know the majority of the customers are likely to be teens; therefore it is best to advertise during the summer, as that is when all schools are on holiday.

Gaining a competitive advantage
Try to style and make your advert very appealing to your customers. A good use of colour, images and font will increase your sales dramatically. Furthermore, due to your business rivals, try if possible, to advertise your product frequently as customers have a very short concentration span. Therefore it is important to keep reminding them of your product and to raise additional awareness.
