As a patent holder myself, perhaps I can share with you my patent experience. I conceived an idea for a product in 1993. I applied for a patent in 2001. I received my patent in 2003. It was a long and difficult journey with many obstacles, with the biggest being financing the whole deal. I did not have a dime when I started, and I still dont have a dime now. But I was able to find a partner to pay for the patent. It cost us $70,000. Since 2003 we have been in the process of refining the development of the product. This has cost us another $100,000. We are very close to having a product that is ready for market. The most important lesson I have learned is never say never, even when everyone else is saying so. I really started with nothing and now I have a patent. Hopefully I will end up with a successful product.
