Exercise tips for overweight people

You hate the way you look and feel. Nothing fits right, you avoid mirrors. Can't remember the last time your shirt was tucked in. You went through some drive thru for breakfast so now your whole diet's blown and there's no sense even trying today. You know what you should do, but you don't have time to do it. You know what you should eat, but there's just no time for food preparation. It's not that you're lazy by any means but by the end of the day you can't possibly exercise, you're too tired. Fatigue often starts your day and ends it.

If you're really ready for this to be the last time you try to lose weight and you really want permanent results you're going to have to accept that this is a lifestyle change you're making and not a two or three week regimen. Exercise alone isn't enough. Diet alone is not enough. Exercise, diet, and mental state need to merge together for your desired results.
Chances are, you're taking care of more people than yourself. Most likely you have family obligations as well as a social life. Involve the people around you in your goals. Write your goals down for yourself, but also tell your family and friends what you want to accomplish and how you plan to do it. In doing this, you've just given yourself a support group and solidified your decisions for yourself. The following are just a few tips for getting yourself psyched about your decision for a healthier you.

1)Visuals: make a board by clipping pictures of what you want to look like, vacations you'll go on, healthy food choices, exercises, anything that motivates you.
2)Find a buddy to do this with you. You'll be able to motivate each other, especially on those days you feel like quitting.
3)Write your goals down, keep them achievable and reward yourself for them. Make sure your rewards support your goals. In other words don't make your reward for losing your first 10 pounds ordering pizza, but maybe treat yourself to a new pair of jeans instead. After all, you're going to need new clothes!

Before moving on to exercise and nutrition (did you notice "nutrition" and not "diet"?) let's backtrack and talk about goals for a moment. Maybe this isn't as clear as one might think. Is such a goal merely weight, or is there more to this? There's probably more to this than just what the scale is telling you and everyone's goals are going to be different. Your starting point and your current health will have a lot to do with your individual goals. Maybe you need to lower your blood pressure
