How to throw a great Super Bowl party

Of course, the best SUPER BOWL PARTY is one where your favorite team is playing. Even if you aren't a usual fan of the AFC and NFC teams playing in the big game, you can still jump on the Super Bowl bandwagon and root for a team in the Super Bowl. Here's some ideas to have a great Super Bowl Party:

First, make sure your home is suited for football viewing. You definitely need a TV with a good picture. Don't invite thirty people to your home if you have an 18" television. Make sure your TV is big enough that most of the people invited will be able to comfortably view the television. You may need to rearrange your furniture or bring in a few extra chairs. Make sure everyone will be comfortable.

Unlike other parties you may host, the main focus of a super bowl party is the game on TV. Ideally, you will have several televisions and surround sound that carries throughout your home, so people migrating around will be able to know what's going on.

Make sure you have enough food and drinks. Count the number of people who will be attending and make sure you have enough beer, wine, soda, water, and juice. If children will be attending, make sure you don't forget to get drinks for them.

Also, make sure you have enough snacks. You can ask your guests to bring a dish to make it easier on you. Try to provide foods that are easy to eat and require minimal utensils, like nachos, cheese sticks, chicken wings, and cookies. If you are ordering pizza, order early in the day, as super bowl Sunday is one of the biggest pizza delivery days.

If you have a bunch of friends that don't like football, this is not a party to invite them to. The object of the party is to watch a sports game. You don't want people at your party complaining that everyone is watching "a stupid football game."

Finally, get decorating! Show your true team or bandwagon spirit. Go to your party store and load up on balloons and streamers. You can also get football themed invitations, plates, and napkins. On game day, make sure you dress the part! If you don't put on a jersey, consider putting on a referee outfit!
