A muscle car is a high performance automobile. A muscle car is usually a 2 door rear wheel drive car with a V8 usually producing 200-800 horsepower and stripped of most options for example no rear seat and some special options like Ram air. Some notable common muscle cars would be the Ford Mustang,Chevy Camaro,Dodge Charger,Pontiac GTO. But which muscle car would I consider the best. Well after living threw the 50's 60's 70's driving and riding in all the top of the line muscle car's and going to the drag strip to watch them brand new compete i would have to say after researching that the return of the muscle car with the new Chevy camaro and the new Dodge charger that should be hitting the roads soon and the new Pontiac GTO. That those retro designed cars will be the faster more reliable and better at handling then the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. But if i was to choose the fastest muscle car of the day after researching and proven tests

it would be the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with a under rated 390 horsepower 440 cubic inch V8 and a 4 speed transmission right out of the show room could go 12.91 in the quarter mile at 111.8 MPH. Not only was the road runner good in a quarter mile but also on a circle track they were good with there special suspension and there special spoiler they kicked but in the 70's. But all muscle cars after 1970 took a deep turn in performance and the muscle car era started to decline due to safety and government regulations for example the 1970 Chevy Chevelle with over 450 horse power from its 454 V8 in 1971 decreased to 365 horsepower with its 454 V8. Then in 1972 the Muscle car took an even bigger decline in horse power because of the increased government regulations for example the 1972 Chevy Chevelle had only 270 horsepower with its 454 V8. Was that the end of muscle cars? Of course not in 2005 Ford introduced its retro stying Mustang starting another Muscle car era. Then the Pontiac GTO returned and in 2009 or around then the retro Chevy Camaro and Dodge charger will be returning. With more speed and muscle then before. So i told you about the rise and decline and the best muscle cars. So just wait till 2009 and it will look like the muscle car era yet again.
