I have sold crafts at craft fairs as well as online.

For craft fairs, I started with the small local craft fair and then applied to some bigger ones. This way, I could tell which of my crafts seemed more popular without laying out a lot of money in table rental.

I sold online at etsy.com. It was free to list at the start, although right now it is still not as pricey as ebay. It's also easier to figure out how to list. The disadvantage may be that etsy doesn't get as much traffic as ebay, but I think that craft items can get lost amidst the hugeness of ebay.

A new place that I have heard of, and I know of some crafters who have sold through them, is craftconsigners. She has a website, I think. Anyway, crafters mail her their items and she adds 10% to the price and sells them. I've encountered some people online who've been paid. She seems to communicate well, and some items do sell really well - she takes them to a bunch of different craft fairs for you.
