Best cities to visit in Europe

London is Europe's largest city and an ideal place for a city break. There is so much to see and do that you will never be bored and one trip will definitely not be enough to satisfy your curiosity about this wonderful city that oozes charm and sophistication and has an atmosphere where anything seems possible.

The West End has many theaters to choose from and the top shows are Joseph, Hairspray, Dirty Dancing, the Lion King, Chicago and Mamma Mia. Prices vary so it's worth checking online before purchasing tickets.

The London Eye gives you a great aerial view of the city. It is located on the south side of the Thames River (opposite Big Ben) and has glass carriages that rotate around a big wheel whilst you listen to commentary about the city. On a clear day you can see as far as Heathrow Airport and Windsor Castle and at night the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Tate Museum and Tower Bridge are all floodlit which makes for spectacular viewing.

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Royal Family and each summer 19 staterooms are opened for just 8 weeks for visitors to see. Included in the tour is the scarlet and gold Throne Room which contains the chairs used at the coronation of the Queen in 1953, the Picture Gallery and the magnificent Ballroom which is the largest room in the palace. You will end your tour with a walk along the south side of the garden enjoying splendid views of the west side of the Palace and the 19th century Lake.

The Changing of the Queen's Life Guards (Mounted on Horses) usually takes place at 11.00am from Monday to Saturday and 10.00am on Sundays, however, always check the online schedule as dates and times change throughout the year.

Camden Market draws crowds of up to half a million per week and specialize in alternative fashion, vintage, emerging designers, funky furnishings and international food at an array of restaurants, bars and stalls.

London Aquarium, located opposite Big Ben, is one of the largest in Europe. It has around 400 species on display including sharks, stingrays, clown fish, moray eels and lion fish.

Tate Britain is located on the north bank of the River Thames at Millbank and houses British art from 1500 to present day.

Tate Modern is located on the south bank of the River Thames at Bankside, opposite St Paul's Cathedral and houses international modern and contemporary art. Admission is free.
