It seems we have spent so much time (and money) at Disney World in Orlando Florida that I believe I've become quite an expert on vacation planning. I have actually had several friends and friends of friends to call me asking what they should and shouldn't do. I'm so excited at being able to do this for others that I wanted to keep sharing my knowledge.
We, my husband and I, have been to Disney three years straight with our children. Previously, we have been with my parents once and then went back on our anniversary. Before that, I had been there twice before. We are looking to go back in 2010 to take our youngest daughter for the first time.
The best deals are the vacation packages that include your room, tickets and meals. You can always add an extra day on the ticket and room if you get down there and decide you have too much to do and too little time to do it in.
If you have smaller children and are looking for the less expensive way to travel than let me make those recommendations now. I would highly suggest the All-Star Movie Resort hotel. It has different movie themes. We stayed in the Toy Story wing and the decorations are awesome. They have Army Men Buckets covering the stair cases, Buzz and Woody (Giant) set up in the courtyard that's made up to look like Andy's room. They even have RC Racer that the kids can get into. The rooms are decorated with movie posters and printed wallpaper. The bedspreads carry the same theme. My little boy loved it!
We have also stayed at the Pop Century. It's nice but not geared as much for children. We went for Christmas and I have to say that the Christmas decorations were beautiful! They have this huge tree in the lobby and wreaths that would be taller than my house. It's so elegant and the children would stare at it in awe.
When choosing your vacation package, you have several options. I will go into detail option by option. You first enter the dates and number of nights and number of people in your party. Once that's completed, you'll receive a pop-up letting you know which hotels have availability or you can bypass that by choosing your own hotel. Next, you will pick the number of days you want your tickets for. The default is for the number of days you have selected (i.e. 7 nights would give you an 8 day ticket). You definitely want the Park Hopper tickets so you can go from one park to the next in one day - you aren't just stuck at one park. Once you've selected that, you have the option
