Exercise tips for overweight people

Okay so you are overweight. You know that, what you don't know is how to lose the weight. You've tried all kinds of diets, literally starved yourself only to lose some weight only to put it back and a few extra pounds as well!

Join a gym with those skinny people complaining about having to loose 5 or 10 pounds.PLEASE! What's your next option? With firm resolve, take control of your life and your health.

First and most important, see your doctor, find out the why you are overweight. Maybe it's an eating disorder; maybe your metabolism is sluggish. It could be an emotional problem where food is your comforter. In any case you need to know why and what exercise plan you are healthy enough to engage in. The doctor gives you the okay, so here are some tips.

Don't set yourself up for failure. Make your goals realistic so that you can achieve them. This will make you feel good about yourself giving you the willpower to go on.

1 You cannot make your eating habits change overnight, it's a long process. You can start by getting rid of the junk food; that is foods that contain empty calories. Keep fresh fruits and vegetables around your house. Choose whole grain food products such as whole wheat breads, pasta and the like. Potatoes are not high in calories; it is what you put on them. Buy low-fat products but remember even if it's low fat, if you do not control your portions you're just consuming the same amount of calories.

2 Eat often. Don't let yourself get hungry. Smaller portions of good foods will keep you content and give you energy.

3 Drink plenty of water. If you drink four cans of pop a day, vow to cut down to three in a day or two and so on until a can of soda becomes a treat that you indulge in occasionally. Don't substitute fruit juice that is just as high in sugar as soda, drink water! Add a slice of lemon or lime to your water for some extra flavor.

4 Even when you go out to eat, you control your portions and what you order. Instead of greasy fries consider ordering fruit or a salad. When eating a salad don't pour on the salad dressing, instead dip your fork into the salad dressing then into your salad. Eat until you are content, not bloated.

5 Keep moving! Even while watching television you can be active by doing leg raises or try calf pumps. Raise your knees by rising up on your toes. Add resistance by applying pressure to your knees then pump your legs in an up and down motion. Walk as often as you
