Spider Solitaire tips and tricks

Spider Solitaire is a fun computer game for passing the time. It's a mix of skill and chance, and there's one thing to keep in mind; statistically, not every game can be won! Here's a few tips for maximising your chances.

Don't forget you're playing Spider Solitaire, not Solitaire! The suits have to match. So the first thing you do is scan the suits carefully, and place the cards on the suits that match.

The scoring is different, too. You want to get a high score. You gain points when you match an entire suit, but lose them for every move; so try to make the fewest moves possible. Remember, every time you make a mistake, your score decreases.

Once you've matched every card in the suit, start placing cards on the piles that don't match. Don't worry that they don't match as yet if you don't do this, you'll never be able to win. You need to try to get rid of your cards as quickly as possible, and this is the way to do it.

If you've got a choice between two identical cards, check the stacks. Do you want one which is more empty or more full? Remember, you want to empty your stacks as quickly as possible.

Now click on the score box down the bottom to check for any available moves that you haven't noticed before.

Keep in mind that you can't leave any empty stacks when you deal the next row. Be careful that you don't run out of cards before you game is up, or you'll lose. And avoid creating lots of empty stacks you'll waste moves just putting cards into empty slots so you can deal.

Now, as soon as possible, when you've dealt the next row, rearrange the stacks into colours. As soon as you've got a row of cards from Ace to King, it'll disappear for you and you'll get points. If you mix them up too much, you'll never be able to arrange them before the game is over, so balance mixing and keeping the suits together.

Tried, but you're getting nowhere? Here's a cheat. Open Registry Editor via run. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER, software and Microsoft. Look for a key named "Spider." Click on it. On the right hand side, double click on what you want to edit. For example, if you open Wins_difficult and change the value data to 99, go and check your statistics for a surprise...

You'll find with practice that you'll be winning your game of Spider Solitaire before you know it!
