5 Tips to help you save on your car rental.

[1] Don't buy the insurance if you don't have to!
If you already have full coverage on one of your personal autos you do not need to buy the car insurance through the rental agency. Your personal auto policy will cover your rental car too! Many times the rental agency does not mention this. Next time, save your money and show them your insurance policy.

[2] Reserve in advance.
Making your reservation at the last minute can hurt your chances of getting the type of car you want. If calling just before a holiday most economy cars or SUV's will be sold out leaving you with luxury cars or other pricey vehicles. Making your reservation in advance will secure the vehicle you want and the price you can afford.

[3] Look for deals online.
Many travel websites such as Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com and Expedia.com have great deals on car rentals. Many times they have packages that include flights, cars and hotels. Whether you're going on vacation or just on a short trip, deals online can help significantly. Doing your research can save you money!

[4] Ask for the economy!
So, you're driving a Mercedes Benz. Who cares! Many economy cars can be as low as $17.00. If you need your rental car for a reasonable amount of time the savings can be substantial. Save yourself some money and ask for the economy!

[5] Check the body of the car before you drive off the lot!
Many times there is damage to the rental car that the agency has not yet caught. Make sure you do your part and check the car out. If there is a scratch or dent, make sure that it is documented so that you are not responsible for that damage. Don't let someone blame you for someone else's mistake!
