Ride the Bike!
No matter what style bike you ride, be it road or mountain, for pleasure or competition. Getting on a bike forces you to smile, sweat, be thrilled, and simply enjoy life. Sure it is true that bike riding is an excellent means to better health, strengthens your heart, muscles, and mind. However it is also just the pure enjoyment and relaxation that has meant the world to me.
It all started with the simple straight on, just ride for better health. Then I found my mind taking over. There is that hill again, I know I can make it up faster this time..... I realized that my exercise has turned into a psychological thriller for me. It is a never ending story and I get to play a new episode with each ride. So don't wait for those writers to come back to entertain you with TV episodes, get out on a bike and live your own episodes.
After some time out riding on my Mountain Bike, I realized. I am miles away from that busy backed up, smoggy freeway. Being atop a peak looking down on civilization made me feel lucky. I am lucky I found a way to not strengthen and thrill my body but most importantly a way to relax and enjoy what is left of nature.
Now if just biking is not enough for you, throw another of your hobbies in with it. For me it was bringing my digital camera and getting some spectacular pictures. Finally I got the one picture I was waiting for. The Rattlesnake on the trail. There he was, just after a cold spell, the weather had warmed up a bit. I knew the snakes would come out to sun themselves. A beatiful 4 foot Rattlesnake asleep on the trail. Got some great photos. So take your hobbies with you and enjoy them in the great outdoors. Oh and it makes for a great date. Take a nice leisure ride, bring a picnic (maybe some bubbly) and enjoy being with others.
