Night of a Million Billion Zombies (NOMBZ).
NOMBZ is a 3D, action, zombie slayathon padded out with multiple characters and a plot more complex than you usually see for point and shoot game play of this kind. The game is light hearted and comic book in style so you're looking at a shoot em up rather than something genuinely scary although the odd surprise attack from the side or behind can make you jump now and then.
Mot, the main character, starts off the game alone in the city's warren of zombie infested streets and has to stay alive while trying to find a way to get out of the city. As the game progresses Mot meets other characters as game play progresses and they join him in the mission to escape, each adding either information or skills to the team.
The game bridges the divide between plot driven survival horror and a point and click shootathon which will be appealing to those who crave a little bit more from their zombie shooting session. The plot and characters are all very much in keeping with the traditions of zombie and survival horror and this faithfulness really translates well into the game play.
The game controls are affected by an option to adjust mouse sensitivity and some players will probably need to experiment with this a bit before they find a level that they are comfortable using.
The trial of this game takes up about 40MB of space and some computers will struggle to keep up with the requirements so some users can anticipate issues there. The game graphics are done in an appealing carton style, the only real problem is that the scenes are a bit too dark and the zombies, which are after all the reason you're playing, don't really stand out that well.
All the classic elements are there; blunt object and shot gun as weapons, a small number of survivors in a city full of zombies, the relentless hoards of the undead out to get the main character and a simple plot of survive and escape. Something that's really great about this game is the music, whether for the grim atmosphere of the streets or for the more comic menus it sounds spot on and carves out more of a unique identity for the game.
People who love the zombie genre will enjoy this game however if you're someone who loves Resident Evil but can take or leave Dawn of the Dead then you'll probably be less keen on it. Anyone who loves the action genre would be well suited to this game.
