There are some things in life that really make my blood boil! Bad driving is one of them.
I don't profess to be a perfect driver by any means...after all we all make mistakes. But some of the things I see happening on the roads today, really get's my goat! Take this little lot, for instance.
1. Drivers who hog the overtaking lane. These really get me going. They sit in the right-hand lane (I live in the UK, by the way) when theres no traffic in the world in the left, doing about 30mph on a 50mph road, and holding everybody else up. They might be out for a Sunday drive, looking at the sights. But the rest of us have places to go, and people to see. By all means tootle along if you must, but leave the overtaking lane for those who want to do just that, OVERTAKE!
2. The Parking Lot Rat. There you are, patiently waiting for a car to reverse out of a space, and as it does so, a car comes from the opposite direction and whips into your spot. What a cheek! Theres nothing worse. I usually keep my head in most situations, but when you've just spent 15 minutes circling the car park, looking for a space, and this happens, the best of us will just lose it!
3. The Queue Jumper. You are driving along a dual carriage way, and a sign informs you that one of the lanes is closing. (say for road works) You get in the right lane, and a queue builds up, but the 'Queue Jumper' is not prepared to wait! They speed down the closing lane as far as they can, and then push in, right at the front of the queue! This really gets my blood pressure on the rise! We all have somewhere we need to be, but the 'Queue Jumper' thinks he is the only one on the road with a life! He is WRONG.
5. The Roundabout Sitter. We've all been there. You are approaching a 'manic' roundabout, when you realise that the car in front of you is a 'Roundabout Sitter' They are at the front of the queue...and that is where they stay! All the cars in the other lanes are coming and going, but still he stays where he is, missing opportunity after oportunity. (This usually happens when you are late for an important appointment, and adds considerably to your stress levels) Its SO frustrating!
As I said earlier, we ALL make mistakes, but these pet peeves are not mistakes, they are simply down to selfishness and bad driving. The solution to these and other such things, is courtesy, consideration and patience.
