How to pick the fastest road car

by James Stayer

Created on: January 13, 2008

So you want a fast car from the factory, but you do not have a spare million dollars laying around. This is actually a great advantage for you...you will not waste 900,000 on a car that is sub-par, and is designed for high end speeds (not a good choice for the local grocery run), has no room inside and most do not even have a trunk, and is the desire of all rich single for life men. Instead find yourself a NISsan MOtor (known as NISMO) modified Skyline GT-R R34, or the new (came out in Japan in Dec 2007, and will be a 2008 model here in the United States of America) Nissan GT-R. Both cars are very fast straight from the factory and can be modified and tuned to reach ungodly speeds. The Skyline GT-R was actually banned from certain racing leagues, the officials changed some rules to exclude the car after it won 29 races of the 29 races in which it was able to compete. That is proof enough for me that it is truly "Godzilla" as it has commonly be referred. The new GT-R is currently the record holder for the Nur track in Germany, the backyard of Porchse and BMW. Fear Japan cars, they are by far the best investment possible for a supercar speed at fractions of the ultra-luxury European supercars that have extremely over sized engines - 16.4 liter engine in the "fastest car ever" that costs 1.3 million compared to the 2.6 liter engine in the Skyline GT-R... I hope that if you get the french supercar that you can afford the gas.

Other factors that most do not even think about include the cost of gas, insurance, maintenance, and tires. As aforementioned, the supercars of Europe use massive engines, which burn gas faster then the Ford Lightning, where the JDM (Japan Domestic Market) cars are low engine size but perfectly designed. Do not even think that you can walk into State Farm or Allstate and get a reasonable rate on insurance if they will even insure the vehicle when you pull up in a million dollar waste of money... I mean European supercar. Saying you do find an insurance company that will insure you at a reasonable rate, where are you going to have your maintenance done? Because if you bought a supercar like the current one I have been referring, odds are that you do not know how to work on the car. Those that work on their own vehicles understand how much more beneficial it is to buy a car at the fraction of the price that can be mechanic friendly, a daily driver, and extremely fast from the factory and can reach break-neck speeds with some tuning.
