Book Reviews: GHOST HUNTING, By Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson with Michael Jan Friedman
GHOST HUNTING TRUE STORIES of UNEXPLAINED PHENOMENA
From THE ATLANTIC PARANORMAL SOCIETY
By JASON HAWES and GRANT WILSON, with MICHAEL JAN FRIEDMAN
For anyone that has watched GHOST HUNTERS on the SCI-FI channel, this is a must read book, and for anyone that has an interest in paranormal phenomenon this book is a good read. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson are the founders of TAPS, or The Atlantic Paranormal Society, which has become one of the leading paranormal investigative groups in the United States. They have a unique way of investigating paranormal claims, compared to a lot of groups in this field, by trying to disprove the claims first by using scientific means, using technology to either disprove the claims, or if there is no way to explain the phenomena through scientific means, then you are left with things that are unexplained, or possibly paranormal events.
In this book you learn how TAPS was formed, and how Jason and Grant first met. One question that has been asked is why both Jason and Grant got into this field of paranormal research. What happened, or what kind of experience leads them to investigate the Paranormal. Jason Hawes does explain what his experience was that lead him to paranormal research, and although Grant Wilson does not go into detail about his experience, there are some details revealed about what transpired to lead him to this field of research.
The thing I liked about this book is some of the early investigations that TAPS went on, and the behind the scenes details that you do not get to see on GHOST HUNTERS. The Cases start in 1996, and end with one of my favorite investigations, the Stanley Hotel in 2006. The conclusion is written by Grant Wilson, and there is a ghost hunting manual at the end of the book.
Ghost Hunters has grown more popular over the last two years, and has created a spin-off show called GHOST HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL. There are some of the team members from TAPS who you will recognize on the new show, Donna LaCroix, Andy Andrews, and Brian Harnois, along with Robb Demarest, and Barry FitzGerald whom you will remember from the TAPS investigations in Ireland.
GHOST HUNTERS will return with all new episodes in March, but if you cannot wait to get more ghost hunting, this book will fill that void. GHOST HUNTING, which made it onto the New York Times best seller list in the top 20, is a great look into the paranormal, and I suggest that anyone with an interest in paranormal phenomena read this book.
