you secretly yearn for cowboy boots and love to two-step, or want to learn to two-step, head for Fort Worth. A well-kept secret of Fort Worth's is the five star museums scattered throughout town. Within walking distance are the highly rated Kimbell Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum, National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum, among others. Fort Worth's Stockyards National Historic District features rodeos, cattle drives and Texas barbecue. After the rodeo, head over to Billy Bob's for two-stepping with cowboys to live music.

Salt Lake City is a short plane ride away from most northwest cities and towns, and is still uncrowded, even during the height of summer. Host of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City expanded its infrastructure and cultural offerings, all of which remain to entertain visitors. Religious or not, visit Temple Square, seat of the Mormon Church. On Sunday mornings, the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts its weekly "Music and the Spoken Word" program, free to all. In the summer, stroll through lush gardens surrounding every building. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy a drive up to Antelope Island State Park, accessible north of the city. Cross the several-mile bridge and gain access to beaches on the Salt Lake and hundreds of acres of spectacular hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities.
