When I thought about what my favorite cereals are, I automatically thought about my childhood. I thought about eating that bowl of sugary goodness while sitting in front of the tube watching Saturday morning cartoons. Cereal is like a childhood comfort food. My favorite cereals are not very healthy and I don't eat them much anymore (not very low in carbs).When I do eat cereal nowadays, I stick to cereals that contain bran, fiber oats.. *adulthood, sigh* Every now and then however; when I'm babysitting my nephews, I will enjoy a bowl of one of my old favorites with them while I watch their TV shows and I start to remember all those cereal commercials I grew up on: Trix are for kids, Two scoops of raisins, Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs and others that I loved and mimicked and would beg my mother to go to the grocery store to purchase. Back then, the cereal wasn't just about the cereal itself. It was about the experience of it all. The commercials about cereal, the cartoons while eating your cereal and the cool prizes inside the cereal box (tattoos, puzzles, crayons, and little toys) all contributed to that.

1. My all time favorite would have to be Frosted Flakes. Growing up; those crunchy flakes of sugar used to be a favorite among everyone in my house. It was a staple in my house. Bread, milk, sugar, Frosted Flakes, butter, eggs...

2. Froot loops. Even when they started to get a little soggy, they were still good.

3. Cap'n Crunch. Despite the raw feeling in your mouth after eating this cereal, I loved the sweet corn crunch.

4. Rice Krispies. Okay, who does not like to hear a little snap, crackle and pop before breakfast? Another question: Who does not like rice Krispie treats?

5. Honey Nut Cheerios. How excited was I when I found out that these are actually good for you!
