Make the most of a box of baking soda by using it for cleaning, polishing and disinfecting. Baking soda can be used in kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. For example, baking soda can be used in washing machines instead of commercial fabric softeners because it leaves clothes soft , fresh smelling and static - free. Baking soda, or bicarbonate of soda, can be used freely throughout throughout the house because it is non-toxic and therefore kind to the environment. When baking soda is flushed down the drain it does not pollute the water system with chemicals or dyes. Making the most out of a box of baking soda ensures that you are replacing commercial harsh cleaning agents with a gentle substitute.
Some uses of baking soda are written on the box so the next time you buy baking soda read the container. It is commonly know that putting an open box of baking soda in the fridge will get rid of odors. However, there are many other uses for baking soda .
Baking soda feels right at home in the kitchen. Our grandmothers used baking soda to make delicious flaky biscuits. As well as baking our Granny's biscuits we can also make our own baking powder for other delicious baked goods. Simply stir and sift two parts Cream of Tartar, one part Baking Soda and one part Cornstarch and that will give you baking powder whenever you need it.
Once you are finished making your baking powder, clean and polish all your kitchen appliances that are made of stainless steel. Since baking soda has abrasive qualities it does a good job of eliminating spots on toasters, kettles and everything else that is stainless. Simply moisten a soft cloth, sprinkle on the baking soda and gently rub the surface. The kettle, toaster and everything else will shine without the toxic smell of chemical cleaners and the baking soda rinses off easily.
Polish silver with baking soda for that terrific shine we all want our good cutlery, silver trays and pitchers to have.
As well as polishing stainless steel and silver, baking soda is terrific for cleaning and polishing marble and granite because it does a thorough job without scratching the surface of your kitchen or bathroom counters. Baking soda does the same good job of cleaning Formica. Use baking soda to clean your bathroom sinks and stainless steel taps. The slight abrasion works effectively without causing any damage to your bathroom fixtures.
