What is the most important question?

I think the most important question in the world has got to be simply "Why?".

It opens the possibility for every venture of debate. It can be the one question that opens up any topic. It can also be the only question that can drive the parents of a youngster up the wall (I mean, who hasn't tried explaining where babies come from and things of that nature and only been confronted, after a lengthy and concise explanation with 'Why?')

'Why?' gives us the opportunity to question everything that has ever existed. It is the one simple word that allows us to utilize the greatest tool we have, the ability to share our opinion. I often fins myself asking 'Why?', it's the one word that I use to question myself, to question my decisions. It tends to lead to a complex inner monologue that can drone on and on for hours.

'Why?' is the one question that is a universal constant in the media, it's the reason that we have anything to actually read on the morning commute or our lunch breaks. Without 'Why?', the media has nothing to report, no way of being the starting point for some sparkling debates around the water cooler. Whether it be 'Why has Bush done this?' or 'Why didn't Capello pick him?', 'Why?' is always the starting point of all civilized conversation.

I hear people taking about the 'big' questions. Those ones about God, 'does He exist?', 'if God does exist, why does he allow such suffering?' and they are valid questions but it's all relative back to the simple question of 'Why?'.

I know it sounds all too simple but it's the starting point of some of the greatest differences of opinion, it can show the polarized opinion within a bunch of work colleagues, friends, and even whole countries and continents.

Old or young, rich or poor, as long as we have tongues in our mouth or a keyboard at our fingertips, we all have the ability to ask this one question and will all get an answer to it.

I just ask you one thing 'Why?'
