I do believe in love at first sight, even if my relationship wasn't as conventional as some other peoples. Our eyes met across a crowded chat room (how much of a 21th Century cliche will that become, I wonder?)

I met my girlfriend on-line (right here on Helium in fact). Sure, it's not the norm but it's getting progressively more common. We got talking about 3am (I haven't got a clue why I was up so late). I remember we were talking about Super Mario, I know, entirely random. But as we talked more, we grew closer.

It was kind of ironic, considering how I was the biggest cynic you could find when it comes to on-line dating and long-distance relationships. We were talking for a while, about a week, when I knew that she was really something special and I uttered the immortal words "I love you".

She was taken back by it at first but I think Cristina knew that I meant it. It was slightly awkward for a while, both of us slightly unsure of what the heck we were to each other. After a little while longer, Cristina sent me an e-mail with a picture attached, I opened it and fell off my chair, I was so amazed at her beauty. My heart skipped a beat and I immediately knew that our children would be adorably cute!

While it was love at first sight, it's such a difficult thing to keep a relationship afloat (as most of you will know). Love at first sight existed for me, it may not for others. I think it depends on how visual some people are.

I will always remember the very first time I saw the love of my life. Love at first sight is such a powerful thing for me and I hope that things work out and I can later talk to you about my wife and the mother of my children.

Good luck finding that special person, there is someone out there for everyone. And, for those of you in relationships, think back to the first time you met and always remember what it was that made you fall for them in the first place.
