"Western Australia beautiful one day perfect the next."
Ask any Eastern Stater what Western Australia (WA) stands for and the answer you receive after a short arrogant giggle is "Wait Awhile." Why you might ask them? They're so far away from civilization that they have to wait for everything. The crime of isolation has sentenced this beautiful diverse state to two centuries of unofficial boycotting.
Well not anymore. As more and more of these critics crave to escape their hectic lifestyles they discover that the laid back lifestyle of Western Australia is just what their doctor ordered and if peace and quiet is what you are looking for peace then quite you will find. With a total land area of 2.6 million km2 and population of around 2 million it is easy for one to find solitude relaxing on WA's continuous white beach, surfing the abundance of breaks found along the coast or sipping wine at one of the many winery's in the Swan Valley or Margaret River wine regions. If lounging on the beach, surfing and sipping wine is not your cup of tea then why not try visiting one of the many unusual rock formations such as the Bungle Bungles, the Pinnacles or Wave Rock. If that doesn't take your fancy maybe scuba diving at Nigaloo Reef, canoeing through gorges or feeding dolphins at Monkey Mia is more your style.
But if solitude is not what you're looking for then maybe mixing it with the 1.5 million people living with in the 5000km2 Perth metropolitan area is more for you.
From the moment your plane hits the ground the state welcomes the weary traveller with open arms, a happy smile and a G'Day. It doesn't matter if you're talking to a wine producer in Margaret River or a miner from Mount Magnet everybody has time for you in this place. Fremantle famous for its caf strip is a bustling city with a rural feel and will intrigue you with its unusual combination of fast lane yuppies and bohemian hippies co-habituating happily. Perth with its sweeping views of the Swan River from Kings Park is nothing to sniff at either and if it is nightlife your looking for well its no Berlin or London but there is something for everyone and if you have time why not get "Blotto on Rotto". If country really isn't your thing and you really want to see some of the unique WA fauna and flora you don't need to go far. An hour bus ride out of Perth will land you in the middle of Jarrah and Karri forests where you will see kangaroo paws and if your quiet a koala and a kangaroo or two. But if your luck is low have no fear just swing by the Cohuna Wildlife Park and have your photo taken with the tame koalas and kangaroos before heading back to the comfort of the city.
Western Australia really has something to offer everyone.
