Lets think about this for a moment, we wouldn't want to take away anyones rights. An illegal alien could cast a vote, but why should we care? Ours is a country based on freedom for all, but do those freedoms extend to non-Americans? Maybe I'll call my cousin in London to pay me a visit, so he can vote.
Voting is the most important thing we can do as citizens, but why should we need a photo ID. Can it possibly be to protect the integrity of the voting process? Think about it, freedom, citizenship, democracy, integrity these things make up an Americans privilege to vote. Is this not important to every American citizen? Maybe other things are more important to the men, and women of the United States.
Those things you must deem more important are things like a drivers license, an identification badge for work and so on. Get pulled over by a policeman for a driving infraction, and you don't have your drivers license. You can make new friends in jail! If you don't wear you identification badge to work, they just won't let you in to work. Big deal, you can have the day off! If you haven't gotten my point yet, you never will.
As Americans we must protect our rights, and privileges. Rights come first, then privileges. Some people may say they won't give away their rights, but don't they all drive cars? They worry that Big Brother is watching them. There are times when Big Brother watching can be a wonderful things for us, for instance voting. Of course there are times when Big Brother is just intrusive. Big Brother is not always good, and not always bad. The requirement for voter identification cards IS a necessity.
Can you just imagine our government officials being elected by people that aren't even citizens of our country? You may think this is not possible, but look at how many elections are close, or the run-off elections we have. We already have an idea how many people from another country can be in the US, how many elections can that change? This is one simple way to save our country!
