Certainty and success

Certainty is something we all would like to have seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day. Yet life doesn't work that way. Most people fear anything that they are not certain about. They fear to take risk. Yet certainty in a way entraps us into a prison that we don't even know we are in.

Paradigms are created around any uncertainty. Think about certainty as a rat in a maze. The rat smells the food, thus has certainty that food is present, yet it does not know where the food is exactly, so it follows it nose and sniff all around, until it finds the cheese. You get up in the morning and go to work, you are certain of where you are going, the route you are taking, how you are getting there and where you are sitting at your job. That is a certainty.

Now whether or not you will have a job or if your building that you work in will be there has a degree of uncertainty. You don't get out of bed go to work and think, will the building be there? This is usually very far removed from your thinking. You really don't know if your building will be there when you arrive. There is a certainty that it will be there. Is your certainty misplaced? Logically, yes it is. Emotionally no its not.

Certainty in succeeding in anything is an emotional state. Pure and simple that's all it is. Certainty is the feeling that you will arrive to your destination. Would anyone risk anything if they didn't believe that they can arrive? Absolutely not! We are creatures of habit and most of us need to see the results, the evidence that proves certainty in some way.

The certainty in success does not start with the results, maybe from the results from other people's experiences or results in some other way. If you don't feel that you have a good certainty of success, belief in self, you will not take the actions necessary to achieve any goal that you set for yourself. At best your actions will be superficial, poorly thought out or you will quit to soon.

You will have to convince yourself that you can succeed. If you are not certain, the risk of losing is higher; then you will shy away from taking the actions that you need to take in order to achieve any goal. Certainty and Uncertainty go together like milk and cookies. It is the Law of Polarity at work. The law simply stated is that everything in the Universe has its opposite. You can not discuss certainty without entertaining the concept of uncertainty.

Let us get back to my earlier example of the rat in the maze. The rat was certain that there was
