Securing the Benefit of the Next Generation
Of course our children should know God! And it is our obligation to instruct them in His way. But how many or how few are willing to sacrifice themselves, as Christ did for us, for the benefit of their family?
Quite some time ago (twenty years plus) we were at a home Bible study group and a visiting brother expounded upon how that, according to what the apostle Paul had written in his epistles, when we come to the Lord EVERYTHING becomes priority-first and foremost God Himself-but Paul instructs us that if we are a servant we should serve our master as though we were serving the Lord, even if our master is unfair and unjust. Wives are to give service to their husbands as unto the Lord. Husbands are to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the wife and family just as Jesus sacrificed Himself for the benefit of His bride, the Church, and the eventual sons and daughters of God that she would bear; the greatest in the kingdom of God would be He who was the greatest servant...
...more than ten years ago the Lord told me to, "Secure the benefit of the next generation." Every other creature in God's creation lives by this edict-but humankind has all but lost this ideal. Last spring as I made a walkabout on the property upon which I currently sojourn I came across a mother quail and her brood. As the young ones fled my presence the mother ran right up in front of me, acting wounded in an attempt to distract me from her young. She was indeed quite adamant in her attempt to distract me. If I had been a predator she may well have fallen victim-but her young would have survived. How has mankind lost this instinct that every other lesser creature in God's creation has retained? Since we have fallen under the curse of death the only thing that survives us is the next generation. We no longer have immortality but what we do have is the next generation-this is the closest thing we can aspire to in lieu of immortality-but I have not observed this thing among mankind of recent as mankind lives their lives at the expense of the next generation in selfishness, greed and lust for the moment-the most important thing in securing the benefit of the next generation is that they know the Lord and their salvation in Him; beyond this they must know how to survive this current age of darkness and how to provide for themselves the creature comforts that the world system would deprive them of...I present this as explanation of my own actions and sacrifice for the benefit of my own family's next generation...
