Absolutely not! I was a fan of this show first season than it became a big joke to me and a lot of other folks too. First season I watched in awe as Kelly Clarkson went from nobody to some body and not because she was cut but because she had skills, talent you saw her talent grow and develop through out the season. After American Idol's huge success it became about all the rejects and the constant disagreements between Simon and Paula and let's not forget Randy's constant repeating of the word "dog". So I say American Idol may have started out showcasing real talent but than of course every good thing on television eventually turns to junk, at least it seems that way to me. I mean seriously Sanjaya the kid did not have talent, or Taylor Hicks that guy was a something to watch not listen to. Like most of television today it was all about celebrity feuding,and America the "smart" can't get enough of reality fights. Now these are the same people that showcased Fantasia, and she won she deserved it she was and is full of talent, you know the good kind. American idol showcases more unskilled folks than skilled ones. Degarmo was another contestant that was not someone you would consider to be a professional singer who would sell out albums. You saw more rejects on that show than anything. Some of these rejects actually cut a record deal. Does anyone remember William Hung? Nicky Mckibbin was horrible but they kept her on as long as they could. Constantine Maroulis, this guy I don't even have the words to express how much he sucked, he could not carry a tune. Let's not forget this is the show that has Paula Abdul for a judge that chick has no skills. Now is it really the networks fault or the viewing public, I mean we are the ones tuning in to watch this crap.The thing is this show looks like it is going to continue showcasing unskilled people who are just wannabees.
