To answer the question as to whether or not American soldiers are dying in vain in Iraq, one has to first consider why we are at war in Iraq in the first place. Are we protecting our borders? No. The Iraqis aren't trying to invade us. We, on the other hand, are invading them.
Are we seeking revenge for 9-1-1? If so, our revenge has been gotten - a long time ago. Time to give up the ghost and move forward into the future.
Is it the oil? The multi-million dollar amount of oil that Iraq boasts? I think the oil has a great deal to do with the war in Iraq. We are greedy, and we want to control it all.
We know it wasn't the weapons of mass destruction - those reports turned out to be false. What confuses me is that WE have weapons of mass destruction here in our country. Thank goodness everyone else isn't invading us to take them away! I simply do not understand why the United States thinks it is okay for us to do something, but it is not okay for anyone else to do the same thing.
After analyzing all the data, my opinion of the war in Iraq is simply that it is a power-and-control thing. If other countries don't do what we want them to, we invade them. Such a sad lesson we are teaching our children.
All things considered, I sadly have to say that yes, American soldiers are dying in vain in Iraq. Their deaths are needless and useless. There is no reason for them. There is no valid reason for us to be invading Iraq and putting our soldier's lives on the line. Every American death in Iraq is a tragedy that could have been averted if we took care of the needs of our own country and stopped trying to tell the world what to do.
I honor the soldiers who serve in our military. I thank them for protecting us and for defending our country. But let's bring them home to defend us and protect us instead of having them be sitting ducks in a country that we will never change, no matter how long we invade and occupy them.
