I hate sales people. Let me rephrase that... I hate pushy sales people. I think we all do. No one wants to be sold. We want someone who will listen to us, truly listen, and then help us achieve our desires. If a sales person can do that, they can write their own ticket anywhere they go.
Great sales people have learned to sell; they weren't born with that ability. If you want to become a top sales person, learn from the best. Small changes can produce big results. Here are two changes that anyone can make in their approach to life that will pay huge dividends:
1) Read how others became top sales people. Start by reading for one hour every day. Put it into your schedule. By reading one hour each day, most people can read one book a week. That's over 50 books a year. Considering that most people only read one book a year, you will already be head and shoulders above your competition. Here are five of my favorites to get you started:
a) This is the granddaddy of them all. Napoleon Hill was a master at teaching others the fundamentals of achieving their dreams.

b) Brian Tracey started out as a bumbling loser. He couldn't sell heating pads to Eskimos. Now he is one of the premier sales trainer in the world. How did he do it?

c) Dale Carnegie realized that to become great in any endeavor, a person had to first win friends. They had to be liked. That still holds true today.

d) Zig Zigler understands the importance of getting in front of your customers, face to face. In the email world that we live in today, his advice is invaluable.

e) Jay Abrams has made a science out of value.

2) Now that you've committed yourself to reading for an hour each day, let's look at your commute. Many of us spend an hour a day driving to and from work. Most of that time is spent listening to music. Why not turn your auto into a university on wheels!
Start by listening to audio Cd's instead of music. Here are my top 5 favorites:
a) Anthony Robbins is the king.

b) Tom Bulter has some great tips for improving sales skills.

c) Earl Nightingale was great and he was great for a reason.

d) Are you lazy? Then this one is for you.

e) Here is a great CD on getting the most out of life.

If you listen to audio lessons every day during your drive to work and back, within a year you will have achieved the equivalent of a university education. Couple that with reading a book a week on improving sales performance and you will be putting yourself in the top 1% of your chosen field.
