SPLAT ATTACK
Great gobs of gooey delight! Children love slimy stuff, and this fun putty is the bomb. (Just ask any kid.)
Follow these simple steps, and you will have a sticky, super-fun play compound that rivals anything offered on cable TV!
SPLAT!
First, gather your ingredients: Borax (found in the laundry detergent department of your grocery store), school glue (like Elmer's), food coloring and water. Have several mixing bowls on hand, as well as a strong zippered plastic bag. (Freezer-quality bags work well.)
In the larger bowl, combine 2 tablespoons Borax and 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Stir until dissolved and well-mixed.
In the smaller bowl, mix 1/4 cup glue and 1/4 cup water. Stir. Add a few drops of food coloring, and blend completely.
Combine both mixtures in the larger bowl. Stir well. Pour off all of the extra fluid. Place the mixture into a sturdy zippered plastic bag. Seal the bag completely, after pushing out any air pockets inside it.
Knead the mixture with your fingers until it is well blended. This can be done inside the zippered plastic bag or on any flat surface. Be sure to cover tables or counters, as the food coloring inside the mixture can stain.
YOU'VE GOT SPLAT!
Store your Splat between uses in a tightly sealed container or zippered plastic bag to keep it from drying out.
MAKE EVEN MORE!
You can double, or even triple, the recipe to make a lot more Splat. Be sure to make enough for everyone!
Most folks like to make a variety of colors of Splat.
SAVOR YOUR SPLAT!
This makes an excellent party activity for children of all ages. Kids love to get into the act, concocting their own Splat.
Why not separate your Splat into several smaller zippered plastic bags, and send these treasured parcels home with your young party guests? What a fun party favor!
