Punk defined its own notions of style and beauty - and continues to influence the fashion world to this day. Use bold colours and graphic lines to re-create a look that makes a real statement.

1. Look for a colour palette that allows you to get creative. Striking combinations include yellow and green, orange and pink, purple and blue, red and black or blue and silver. Metallic colours are excellent - and given that you want a very strong result, look out for liquid and creme formulations, which tend to givemore intensity or colour than powders. 2. Start by applying foundation to create a pale, flawless surface that colour will really stand out against. Next, sculpt the cheekbones to create a dramatic yet beautiful structure. Use a bronze colour to emphasise the shadow of the cheek hollow and creme highlighter to accentuate the cheekbone; dot it along the very edge of the cheekbone in an L-shape around the eye.

3. The idea is to draw attention to the eyes with bold shapes and dramatic, blended colour. Use your eyeliner to elongate the eye, drawing a swooping line up towards the corner of the brow. This can be painted and thickened with metallic liquid, with one colour blending into another. Alternatively you can create a solid wash of colour on the lid, taperinbg out to a point.

4. Keep lips plain, simply applying a nude gloss.

5. Create a divided line from the corner of the eye, with one line going above the eye and one going down at a reflected angle below the eye.
