Ways to bridge the racial divide

Misunderstanding and ignorance is mostly to blame for the racial divides in the world. Different cultures have different believes, different ways of doing things, different ways of saying things and most of the time, have their own expressions and interests that does not share with another culture. When two people from different races meet, they are suddenly confronted with the unknown, with the difference they didn't know was there. This results in misunderstandings, and eventually, the racial divide.

Many will just leave it at that, they won't talk to the other culture, and the other won't come to bother them. Each stay in their comfortable little communities, avoiding having to confront their differences again, and when problems arise, it's always easier to blame the other rather than themselves.

Bridging racial divide requires education and experience. We are not against our own race because we know exactly what it's about, what is it that we are made of, and why we do certain things. The thing about racial divide is that most people don't want to accept their way is not the only normal way. Many who has a racial issue often are not even informed about the other race and culture, and probably doesn't even know why they have an issue with certain races to start off with.

And no, "they are annoying" is not a reason.

When each of us are more aware of the other culture, are more immersed into the other culture, it will open our eyes into a whole new world. No only will we learn the lessons of why we are different, you get to experience them, and share your own culture with them too so that they too, can learn from you.

Learn the language. Languages often play a big role in the culture and conduct of a society. Why do Germans seem so tense? Because their language is straight forward, so when interpreted into another language, they will seem too direct and tactless, but to them, it's completely normal, it is you that seems un-assure of yourself.

Visit the country. There is often things you can't see outside of the country and it's too easy to make assumptions when you don't know. Visit the places and find out what they are really like, visit the people and talk to them, learn about their passions and their sport. You'd be surprised what you had assumed were all wrong!

Socialize, get out of your comfort zone and make new friends. Don't stick to the same hang outs, but visit different areas, open your heart to different people. Sometimes appearance can really fool us, and you don't know what they are like until you have met them.

The more we know about a race and culture, the less the two are divided. We are all humans after all and the only reason we are divided is because we are so unwilling to let the other into our lives. Start to open your hearts, and allow others to be open to you. In no time, this world will have just one big human family.
