Elections 2008: Blatant political bias by the mainstream media

Romney Supporters Disenfranchised!

Admittedly the brave Wyoming-its who suffer through fierce winters and dry summers, are a small minority as a population goes. Yet, it seems strange that, the same mass media who whipped up frenzies of indignation over allegations of disenfranchised voters from the 2004 election, and who currently assail Indiana for enacting the common sense requirement that voters have some form of ID, would by purposeful lack of coverage, effectively disenfranchise the Republican voters of that State.

If not for an allusion to his victory by Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, which somehow slipped by the mass media sensors, most of us would not have known that any political action had even occurred in Wyoming.
It is true that the reason Wyoming was so rudely ignored could be a matter of its size or even its Republican leaning. Yet it seems more likely that it was Wyoming's victory for Romney that invoked the calculated disinterest of the major media. Sadly it is not just the voters of Wyoming that are the target of such manipulation. To this point the coverage of the primaries by the major media has been both biased and calculated to under cut Mitt Romney's campaign.

For example:

1. During the primaries I did a quick search of news stories about all the Presidential hopefuls. The stories about the Democratic hopefuls out numbered those about the Republicans 3 to 1. Worse yet, during the primary week, NPR did a spot on the candidates, in which no mention was made about the disagreements and negativity of the Democratic candidates and only their positive quotes were used. However, the reports about the Republican contenders, focused on their attacks upon each other and the quotes were gleaned from negative remarks. Those facts of themselves are not surprising to well acquainted with the media's liberal bias, but the bias goes even deeper now, demonstrating a sort of disfavor toward specific candidates. In this case Mitt Romney.

2. In Iowa, where Romney ran a close 2nd, and picked up delegates, the reporting made it sound like it was all Huckabee, with Romney and McCain seemingly neck in neck in never land. In New Hampshire where the difference between McCain and Romney was a mere 3 points, and where Romney again picked up delegates, it was as if McCain was the lone front-runner with all others lost in obscurity. There were even ridiculous calls for Romney to withdraw after such a "poor" performance.

3. In spite of the media's intentions, Romney handily won Wyoming, and is in fact the Republican front-runner in delegates at this time. How is it that the media continues to down play Romney's successes? It is simply that they do not want him to win the nomination and are trying to influence the process to that end. You can bet if Obama, was leading in delegates over Hillary, the press would be touting his victories loud and long, even if that lead came only from Wyoming. How sad that Hillary's tears fill the media for days after the election, while Romney's front running status is ignored.
What does all this mean for us? The very fact that the major media's do not like Romney should be seen by the honest in heart as an endorsement of him! As the old proverb goes, the enemy of my enemy!
