Congratulations on having a new bundle of joy. Welcome to motherhood. As a new mother you will have a lot of questions. Where do you go to find support and get answers? Many of us aren't surrounded by family or our friends may have started their families at different times. Moms clubs fill that void and offer the support a new mom needs. There are many choices out there, which one do you join and how?
If you are a member of a church or a religious organization check the bulletin boards for a moms group. This is a great way to match your parenting style with other like minded religious moms. Don't see a group? Why not start one yourself? There are sure to be other mothers who would love to join.
Not really a member of a religious group? No problem. There are plenty of other mother's groups around. The International Moms Club is a support group for stay at home moms. They meet during the day when most mothers need the help. They have activities designed to get you and your kids out of the house. My moms club has a charity project every year to help those in need. We also provide meals for moms club families who may need it during life events like a birth of a new child, a loss of a family member or an illness. We have a costume swap for Halloween and a holiday party in December. For a sanity break, we have a monthly moms night out where no children are allowed. We also have a weekly playgroup for kids in your child's age range to play and work on their socialization skills. Want to join? Go to http://www.momsclub.org/ to find a chapter in your area.
Are you more of a cyber group person? Caf Mom is just for you. Cafemom.com is an internet mothers club, think Myspace for moms only. There are a huge variety of groups to join. They vary from the traditional potty training support group to hot tattoo mamas. You can become a member of as many groups as you would like and can even start one of your own. You can post pictures of your child and boast of their latest accomplishment. You can find a resource for stay at home jobs. There are plenty of cooking groups as well. Support is just a click away with cafemom.
Motherhood is full of challenges. You don't have to go through it alone. Find a mothers group to get support, help others and just have fun. Todays mothers group don't all look alike so find one that you feel comfortable joining. Your new life is going to be full of questions and stresses but you shouldn't go through it alone. "It takes a village to raise a child." Now go and find one.
