Driving: Pet peeves and solutions

This is one subject that I could probably write 1800 words on rather than 1800 characters. there are bad drivers no matter where you live but it seems like the big cities have more than their share. I drive the front range of Colorado everyday and it is just amazing to see how many complete idiots have driver's licenses or at least they are driving. In the Denver area we have a lot of illegal immigrants that drive but don't have a driver's license. It is really bad because almost every accident they are involved in they leave the scene , either by car or if they have messed up their junker so bad it won't drive they will take off running on foot. I have a friend whose wife was run off the road buy an illegal immigrant. She ended up being killed from loosing control and rolling. My friend rented a Van to take his family to the funeral and was run off the interstate right in Denver by an illegal immigrant driving a belly dump. He did stop and when my friend asked him for a driver's license he didn't have one or a green card. My friend said it was a good thing I didn't have my shotgun with me.

Another pet peeve I have is that people are always in a hurry to get to the next stop light so they can slam on the brakes and give places like Brakes Plus some more business. It is ridiculous how people will pass you ,pull in front of you and then slam on the brakes for a stop light. I just laugh at how stupid they are. When I see that a light is going to change, I down shift and slow down and use my brakes as little as possible. I have a 2002 Jetta TDI with 82,000 miles on it and it still has the original brakes on it and I am sure I will get 100,000 at least before I have to put brakes on it. Most of the peoples front wheels are just black from brake dust and they can't figure out why I get 100,000 on a set of brakes and they get 15-20,000 if they are lucky. I have driven a lot of times from Ft Collins to Denver and seen people change lanes and weave in and out of traffic and when we get to Denver and a stop light on one of the major side roads I will be right beside them. Generally if a person will just stick to one lane and keep moving they will get there just as fast as the person who weaves in and out and switches lanes all the time.

Another thing that really irritates me is people who will pass you 300 feet before an exit and then slow down to make the turn at the exit. Why couldn't they just stay behind for an extra five seconds. Another
