Songs: Heaven

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today

What could I do? I sat there and cried
How am I gonna' tell her the truth about her daddy now

It will break her her heart when she knows I've lied
I know I've got to tell her now but I just don't know how

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today

So I told her to just go and play for right now outside
And when daddy wakes up he'll take her to the park,
I'll call her right away and again I lied
She ran off to play for a very long time until it was dark

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today

Worried sick, I called out her name
She came running in and then told me where she'd been
Things will never be the same, you see, my husband finally came
He told her that he'd come to take her to the park again

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today

My little girl said, daddy's with God now in heaven
And he came back just for me
We went to the park together, and we played on the swings
He told me he'd see me again in heaven where life is carefree

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today

My husband died early that day in a car accident
I didn't have the heart to tell her that he was dead
He was a man that always said what he meant
To my daughter he always meant what he said.

My little girl kept asking me how long daddy's gonna' sleep
She wonders if he'll wake up in time to take her to the park today
Her Daddy always said he only makes promises that he intends to keep
Daddy promised he'd push her on the swings at the park today
