Best romance novels

Romance Novels are written very typically. Guy meets girl, one helps the other out of a bad or dangerous situation and they fall in love and live happily ever after. Some are very boring and written very typically. Others however, are written with some great twists in the plot, written with humor that makes you laugh, and some sadness to make you cry. These are the great ones that you remember for a long time after the book is finished. I have composed a list of some of the great romance novels that offer the reader that extra special thing that makes the novel a great one.

The first romance novel I ever read was by Johanna Lindsey called Warrior Woman. It was the one that got me hook, line and sinker. It offered interplanetary travel, futuristic and barbaric ideas and a lot of humor. Most of Johanna Lindsy's novels add that extra something to make them special. If you are interested, she has written several books, most of which are very different from the normal, typical reads. She gives each character a unique perspective of the life they have around them.

The next book I recall most fondly is a book called A Knight in Shining Armor, written by Jude Devereaux. Abandoned on a trip to England by her boyfriend and his spoiled teenaged daughter, a woman from this era stands in in a cemetery wishing for help. She ends up with a knight from the 1500's who was unjustly convicted of treason. While helping each other, they fall in love and make things right again. It was a wonderful book with time travel added to the plot.

Another really good book comes in a series. The author is Diana Gabaldon and her books are called the Outlander Series. It is also a time travel book series and must be read in order or you get confused. A woman during post World War II wanders the Ireland country side while her history loving husband is studying some of Ireland's history, including his own. She is accidentally whisked back 200 years in time smack dab into the era just prior to the rising of Bonnie Prince Charles, and into the arms of Jamie Fraser, the barbaric highlander who marries her and gives her is love that transcends through time. Her books continue with four more in the series plus and extra book on one particular character and a commentary about the truth and fiction of the books themselves along with the meanings of some of the Gaelic words and phrases used in the books. They are well worth the time spent reading them.

Another really great series of romance novels is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell and the series created by Alexandria Ripley. Known as one of the greatest love stories on screen, the book offers their thoughts, feelings and a few unknown things about Scarlett's life that that the movie never added I'm sure, because of time constraints. The movie was almost four hours long, I understand why they had to cut some things out. Both books were well worth reading. Gone with the Wind offers extraordinary history of the United States that aren't well known, and Scarlett offers some history of Ireland and a bit of a closure from the first book. Guess who returns!?!

These are only a few books that stand out in my memory as being some of the greatest romance novels written. I hope this helps guide you towards some really interesting reading. A few of the books mentioned are long books that are not real popular these days because life is so busy, but they can be some of the best reading material out there. Each author is a wonderful storyteller and offers unique stories for you enjoyment. Enjoy and Read on!
