The Broken Wing

God chose you because he saw an angel with a broken wing.
He hated seeing you in misery and realized it was time for you to be free.
We hated to see you go but we knew you were better off.
You thought we didn't need you but we were the ones that needed you most.
In those five weeks we saw you confused and suffering with pain.
Something an angel should never have to do.
In our hearts we knew your time was near end.
We knew God would soon set you free and fix your broken wing.
It was hard seeing the woman you love so dearly dying.
We stood there watching as each breath came slowly and fought to hold back the tears.
Our emotions were hidden.
We promised you that when the time came we wouldn't shed a tear.
We held your hand as we silently said good bye.
We kissed your forehead and said we love you.
We no longer care, our tears we can no longer hide as we stood there by your side.
We watched as you took your last breath.
We knew then god came for you to mend your broken wing.
