information, they fail simply because they are so hard to read.

Style of writing.

The accepted style of writing on Helium is magazine style. Here, the way in which this can be tackled is by looking at the subject from a neutral stance, writing informatively without bringing too much personal family information into the article. Everyone has their individual style and this is to be encouraged though take a look at a few short articles in a magazine and base yours upon the kind of style that gives the reader a good read.

Testimony or knowledge?

While testimonies include knowledge that is valuable, the difference is that a testimony can be written in the first person. It is perfectly acceptable to write about personal experience in a testimony article, though less acceptable in a knowledge article, unless your knowledge adds credence to the subject. For example, in this article, I have described my experience because it is relevant to the article, though I have not given information on my writing background for example, which would be personal and take the article into the realms of testimonies.

Creative or knowledge?

Knowledge based articles should inform. INFORM is the key word. They should also not take the form of creative writing or poetry, which belong in the creative writing channels. Imagine a lady looking for advice on loss or grief, landing on a page that purports to give this and being confronted with a poem. What they want is information and reassurance, not poetry.

Helium is a great site for written work, and by putting these tips into practice, you can make a reasonable amount of money each month from what is classed as a hobby. The only month that I did not withdraw money was the first month of membership, and since accumulating many articles of reasonable quality, it is possible to earn money with your written work.
