Is Helium a blog?

If all blogs are articles, and some articles are on Helium, are Helium articles blogs?

In a word, no; however, it's a little more complex than that. None of Helium's articles are supposed to be classified as blogs. While some blogs do happen to be informative and insightful, absolutely everything posted on Helium is supposed to embody those two traits - and a few more.

Blogs often lend themselves to personal rants, carefree grammar, and (sometimes) plenty of misinformation - and they aren't peer-rated to see if they meet basic writing standards or contain solid facts. It's extremely unlikely that you'll ever read blog content in a magazine or newspaper.

That isn't to say that all blogs are unworthy of widespread recognition; however, the idea behind a blog is that it's your personal voice echoing out into cyberspace. You can use that voice to say whatever you please, whenever you please - and everyone who reads it knows that it's your personal slant on things because that's what a blog is.

There are hundreds of blogging sites sitting on the Information Superhighway, stuck in rush-hour traffic and not being regarded as a source of factual information.

There is only one Helium, and it's a place where you can find myriad articles (most of which are backed up with facts and creatively written) on thousands of different topics.

Helium is touted as the place "where knowledge rules." The intent of this multi-faceted site is to provide articles full of factual information which are written in unique, professional formats. Everything presented here should be something that a magazine or newspaper editor would accept as a submission. Helium has a clear-cut set of writing standards that each and every article you post should adhere to.

Thousands of authors contribute to Helium, and the administrators provide us with plenty of traffic. The credibility of the site lends each author credibility (we're good enough to be published on an established site that editors frequently shop for magazine and Internet publication articles) and it's a fantastic place to build a respectable portfolio.

Everyone who cares about Helium's success hopes that each author will write professionally, ethically, and stick to the writing standards. It's not the place to veer off on tangents, publish personal rants, or simply "wing it" when you write. It is, however, the place to act like a professional and be recognized for your talent with words.

Authors crave recognition, validation, and naturally, some cash money in their pockets that they earned by doing what they love (and often need) to do. Whether you're dreaming of hitting the big time with a bestselling novel or just want to be heard and regarded as a professional, Helium is the perfect starting point. While you're building that portfolio, you'll earn money when people read your submissions - and who could ask for a sweeter deal?

Anyone can write a blog; only an author can write an article.
