Every off-season for the past three years it has been the same dance but different song in Green bay. To this point the song that continues to play is Ironman by Black Sabbath. That ironman's name is Brett Favre. All of the media screams annually for Brett to retire, but I disagree. This seasons preseason projections said the Packers were considered a team of mediocrity. If you would have told 90% of sports fans the Packers would not play the first weekend of 2008, they would all assume it is because they played poorly, Brett played too long, and they were watching the games from their million dollar homes. What a difference a season makes, suddenly Brett Favre is considered one of the best ever in the history of the game, and his team enjoyed an early break. This break was due to the great play of him and his team, a first round bye in the playoffs! Don't look now but the Pack is considered one of the top two teams in the NFC. There are some athletes that have played too long in their sport. Brett Favre is not one of them.
Imagine how many people in this world hate their job. Every morning they wake up unhappy as they put on their boots, and head off to work. You hear it everyday. Part of the American Dream is doing what you love. If Brett Favre enjoys what he does, he should continue to pursue his career in all facets available. There is a point at one's career that you must decide what is best for your health, your family, and yourself. Until all of those factors point to retirement, he should keep playing. Brett must have Father Time in his pocket, drink from the fountain of youth, or have an un-real fitness plan to continue to play at such an amazing level. If you do not believe that he is playing at a legendary level just consider his records. Favre leads in many areas such as career passing yards, career completions, most touchdown passes, and most wins as a starting QB. Let that sink in very slow. Those aren't records for the Green Bay Packers. Those are records for the history of the NFL. He owns these records over Dan Marino, John Elway, and the great Joe Montana. If you want Brett to retire, I beg you bite your tongue for a few more years and enjoy the history. One day before long he will retire, and you will only be capable to see him play in video clips and old videos.
With all of the records he owns he is a certain first ballot Hall of Famer. Once he finally retires he may own every record, but one of the reasons he has so many great fans is because
