"YOU'VE GOT THE JOB!", now what are you going to do the first month you are there. Your first month at the new job is a valuable time. It not only gives you the chance to show what you are capable of but it shows the employer and other employees what you are made of. So what are you going do?
Whenever you first start a job it's nice to be early until you get a feel for the place. This gives you time to get more familiar with the routine and everyone else's routine. Get to know how to get things going in the morning. Coming in early helps you figure out who isn't the morning person and who is.
Don't pass out the work number for people to call you at work. You should try to avoid this the first month of your employment. Personal phone calls should be saved for break. It doesn't look good to have someone call you during work unless it's an emergency.
The best way to get around the first month is to take everything in and observe as much as you can. Try not to voice your opinion to much unless you are certain it could make a positive impression. Do not literally "sit back" but sit back and watch others. This will give you a chance to get to know others. When it comes to others getting to know you, it would be wise to put up a small guard. You don't want to reveal everything about you right away. You need to leave some stuff a mystery. You don't want everyone to think you are nosy, a gossiper or worse a brown noser.
As you gradually get to know the job you will become more comfortable in the work place. It is okay to let your guard down because now you should know when to say something or who to say it to without it offending or upsetting anyone. Everyone has gotten a chance to get to know you professionally.
Before you know it month has passed and you well on way to success.
