Table centerpieces may be the most important dcor item at your wedding. You will undoubtedly have a sea of tables at your reception site and your guests will spend a lot of time at the table staring at what is in the center of them.
Pick your Style and Colors:
Express your personality and show your style with creative wedding centerpieces. Whether you decide to do it yourself or hire a florist you have many options. You will first need to decide if you want something traditional or trendy. Although you will be choosing colors from your wedding palette you still have a lot of creative freedom. Your colors can range from bold and bright to soft and romantic. Try and pick styles and colors that compliment the theme of your wedding and the location.
Toss the Flowers:
Floral arrangements and floating candles have long been the traditional choices for table centerpieces at wedding receptions. Remember that you can use just about anything you want in the center of the table. Try something different. Tie long wispy grasses with twine for a natural look. Try filling glass cylinders with fruit or vegetables. Use bright citrus fruits for fun spring and summer weddings or artichokes and eggplants for a more elegant affair. For fall weddings tie the stems of pumpkins with luxurious velvet ribbon and place one at each table. The holiday season offers many different options. Baskets of pinecones tipped with gold leafing are warm and inviting. Bare branches spray painted silver and gathered into a large vase look beautiful and can be hung with delicate ornaments in any color you want.
If you do choose to use flowers try displaying them in unexpected ways like underwater or frozen in ice. You may also try finding interesting containers like little red wagons for a childish twist or fabric flour sacks to add charm and a rustic touch.
Try Favor Centerpieces:
Turn your centerpieces into favors for your guests. It is a traditional practice to send your guests home with a small gift. Stack them into pretty arrangements in the center of your table and invite your guests to help themselves when your party is over. Tiered trays can be used to hold the gifts. Pretty little boxes tied with ribbon containing little treats like chocolates or handmade soaps are a great option. Organza drawstring bags also make good stackable packaging.
Remember that whatever you choose for your centerpieces you can give it a personal and creative touch. Many of these ideas can be made yourself with a little time and lots of fun. This way you ensure that no one else will have centerpieces just like yours.
