Imagine how different life would be if retailers sold only items they manufactured. Almost nothing would be available to us. Retail giants would not exist. In fact, almost everything would not exist. Manufacturers of goods would be crippled by limited sales opportunities. It is through distribution networks and retail outlets that manufacturers are able to sell their wares while maintaining focus on the quality of that which they produce.
For eons, this has created opportunities for those with entrepreneurial spirit to set up shops to offer manufacturers outlets in which to sell their wares. The idea was always simple. The manufacturer would sell its goods to the shopkeeper at one price, and the shopkeeper would sell it to the public at a marked up price, retaining the difference as revenue. Along the way, some wise shopkeepers learned that they could hire salespeople to promote those products. By paying the salespeople commissions, they would increase revenues exponentially while only paying out a portion of the revenue in the form of commissions.

Affiliate marketing does not require that one leave his or her comfort zone. It can be done after work, on weekends, and holidays. Certainly there is sacrifice of time that could be spent on other things, but self-employment of any form comes with that sacrifice. Everyone has problems, even successful self employed people. It is just that some problems are more desirable than other problems. The best problems to have, in my opinion, are those that are within our control to resolve. Keeping the doors open is a problem for a person who is self employed. That problem exists with employees
